Hello! If you are interested in attending our ENG 330 Optional, Student-Masked, Socially Distanced, In-Person Outdoor Discussion and Workshop Session at Queen's Park (meeting on the paved area surrounding the statue of the guy on the horse, the King Edward VII Equestrian Statue) on Fri 14 Oct 12:15pm-1pm, you have come to the right place.
Here’s what you need to know.
If you plan to attend our optional meeting, email me now at sergi.utoronto@gmail.com to let me know you’re coming — yes, do that even if you already said on the SurveyMonkey that you could make it. Yes, you are welcome to come even if you did not vote in the survey — as long as you email me ahead of time so I can make sure we keep numbers within a safe range.
If you find at any point between now and the meeting that you are displaying any symptoms related to COVID-19, which you can review at this site, do not attend our meet-up (even if you said you would); rather, follow the instructions at the site linked here.
We will be using a handout as part of our session — look for that handout in your email; please print it out ahead of time and bring it with you. I’ll be bringing spares, but it’s obviously better to avoid contact.
Attending the meeting means that you'll take responsibility for bringing and wearing your mask and for keeping six feet away from others, as well as for bringing anything you need to remain comfortable and feel safe in a public space. If you are unwilling to wear a mask, do not attend our meeting. If you are unable to wear a mask for medical reasons, email me ahead of time to let me know to expect that. Note: during the time that I am lecturing, I will be unmasked, so that I can be heard by students; I will be keeping extra distance (12 feet) from students for that reason — please don’t come closer to me than that!
I will be asking students to volunteer to mime some scenes from our course texts -- not to speak the lines, but only to make appropriate movements. You're not required to help mime the scenes if you come, but please do -- let's bring as much energy and joy to this session as we can!
I have every intention of holding this meeting by adhering fully to city, provincial, and university rules and policies; if I have missed something, please be kind enough to alert me to it quickly.
